A portion of the net proceeds from the Miami Recognition Dinner supports the National LGBTQ Task Force’s mission to achieve equality. Recent examples of the Task Force’s important and unique work included the intensive training of more than 2,500 LGBTQ community leaders across the country (over the past year, the Task Force has provided training and technical assistance to leaders and organizations in more than 20 states). In addition, the National LGBTQ Task Force released numerous policy reports including valuable data about the transgender community and hosted the 27th annual National Conference on LGBTQ Equality: Creating Change, an intensive five-day conference of 4,000 diverse LGBTQ individuals and allies to train and educate the leaders and next generation of the community.

The Task Force donates a significant portion of the proceeds from the Miami Recognition Dinner and Winter Party Festival to the South Florida LGBTQ community through a grant-making process administered by the GLBT Community Projects Fund of The Miami Foundation — Greater Miami’s permanent philanthropic endowment for enhancing the quality of life of all Miami-Dade County residents.

To date, more than 50 outstanding organizations and programs have received grants totaling more than $1.85 million, courtesy of the success of both the Miami Recognition Dinner and Winter Party Festival.
